SSonya Dutton Brooks is the Owner and Clinical Director of Hope Therapy Center. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Speech Pathology and Bachelors of Arts in Child Life and Family Studies from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA and her Master’s in Speech Pathology from the University of Louisiana in Monroe, LA. Following completion of her Master’s Degree, she was accepted and completed her CFY serving patients in acute care hospital tracheostomy/ventilator units, inpatient rehab hospital and pediatric private practice She opened own private practice in 2008 and began training in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.

Sonya’s specializations include correction of swallowing impairments in patients across the lifespan, speech and language disorders, voice disorders and collaborative care for treatment of TMJ dysfunction. At Hope Therapy, multidisciplinary treatment planning is key to the patient’s overall plan of care and well-being.

Sonya is currently completing the MyoMasterminds 9 month long research intense program with The Breathe Institute. She is a member of the ASHA, LSHA, LBESPA, IAOM, AOMT and AAPMD. She mentors both graduate students and clinical fellows in the field of Speech Pathology. Sonya’s mission is to share her passion of learning with colleagues, patients and patient families and to promote the field of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy through continued research.
