I grew up on a Ranch in Southern Saskatchewan and I loved playing sports. When I graduated from High School, I went to Briercrest Bible College to take general studies and Biblical studies and to play volleyball. It was there that I came into contact with a non-profit organization that worked in Africa. They worked in a small hospital with minimal staff, so that was interesting to me. After I graduated, I moved to the country of Niger in Western Africa for one year to help where I could. While I was there, I had a 2 week break in my regular work and I was able to travel with 2 dentists from Alberta, Canada and assist them with their work. During those two weeks I realized how oral health care was really about whole body health and what a difference I could make in people’s lives working in the dental field. When I came home from Africa, I applied to go to Dental Hygiene school and I have absolutely loved being a dental hygienist. I worked in Calgary for 3 years, where I met my husband. We moved to Lethbridge so he could finish his accounting degree and I found a wonderful office to work in. We now have 3 daughters (17, 15 and 9 years old) and spend a lot of time driving them around for their sports, we are heavily involved in our community, and we love where we live.

I have always worked in an office that emphasizes continuing education and have enjoyed many CE courses in my career. In the last few years, our clinic has gone to many courses that focus on airway. It was at those courses where I started learning about what Orofacial Myofunctional disorders were and the benefits of Myofunctional Therapy. As our office started working more with kids who had narrow palates, were mouth breathers, had small airways, or tethered tissues, we began to realize the benefits of having a Myofunctional Therapist on our team. My love for education and whole body health prompted me to take the introductory course when it was offered in Calgary. I started seeing clients soon after and started my certification process a year later. It has been a fantastic journey! I have met so many wonderful people and now have a very long list of courses I want to take, books I want to read and clients I want to help.
