Ashley Ayers

Ashley graduated from the University of Georgia in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. She earned her Masters degree in Communication Disorders from the University of South Carolina in 2014. Prior to beginning her career as a speech-language pathologist in 2014, Ashley taught special education in public schools for over four years and holds teaching certification in both Georgia and South Carolina. As a speech-language pathologist Ashley has worked in the public school system, serving preschool and school-aged children in both school and community based settings. Ashley has also worked in early intervention and skilled nursing facilities. Ashley’s clinical practicum experiences exposed her to a variety of settings including hospitals, schools, outpatient clinics, early intervention, and private practice. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is licensed to practice in Georgia. Ashley has received specialized training to treat children with apraxia of speech using Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol. She has also received specialized training in the area of Orofacial Myology and was certified in November 2016. Ashley has also been trained in Beckman Oral Motor Assessment & Intervention Protocol as well as The SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach to Feeding. Ashley is constantly researching and implementing the most current evidence based practice into her therapy sessions. Along with professional experience, Ashley has personal experience of infant tongue-tie and the difficulties it can present with feeding. Ashley has been awarded the American Speech Language Hearing Association ACE Award for exceeding requirements for continuing education in the field of speech language pathology multiple times. Ashley enjoys spending time with her son Beau, husband, Duff, and their dog, Mattie. Her hobbies include watching football, going to the beach, cooking, and reading. Ashley is excited to serve her community and looks forward to help improve the lives of her patients and their families!
