Sandra R. Holtzman

Neo-Health Services, Inc.
Sandra Holtzman attended both Kent State University and Nova Southeastern University, where she received her MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She was owner and director of a large multidisciplinary therapy center in South Florida for several years where she oversaw the divisions of speech-language pathology, orofacial myology, audiology/hearing aids, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, and a pain medicine department. While working with a variety of patients of all ages, she used the opportunity and knowledge obtained to create the “Myo Manual,” a treatment program that is used throughout the world.

She then began to receive invitations to give workshops and seminars in many different settings, followed by requests to present at conventions and conferences. Sandra has taught more than 150 seminars and training classes, preparing and guiding course participants along the certification path. She also offers highly popular online courses through Northern Speech Services on tongue tie, articulation, and the introduction to orofacial myology.

Sandra joined the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) in 1989 and thereafter presented numerous times before IAOM conventions and conferences. She has sat on both the Board of Directors and the Board of Examiners through the current time. In 2014, she received the Presidential Award from the IAOM for her contributions to the organization. Sandra is one of the original founders of the International Affiliation of Tongue tie Professionals (IATP), an organization dedicated to increasing the knowledge of ankyloglossia, encouraging research, and improving assessment and surgical techniques.

She has created online sites with educational information, videos, and a blog that was started in 2009 and contains more than 200 Q&A to help therapists and dentists solve particular problems. Through Neo-Health Services, she also founded the Orofacial Myology News, a well-received channel for educating Orofacial Myologists, dentists, lactation consultants and other professionals in current trends and news related to OM.

Observing a lack of specific “user friendly” materials, Sandra created Unplugging the Thumb kit (UTT), a method that incorporates the philosophy of the IAOM when treating thumb sucking and other oral habits. UTT was quickly followed by Stop Pacifier and Growing the Nails, programs to further assist the therapist and parents during treatment.

When Sandra is not traveling to give seminars, she makes herself available for evaluations and consultations to local therapists and dentists. She enjoys finding time in her busy life for her 4 grandchildren and catering to her miniature schnauzer, Henry, a beloved class “mascot” whose photo appears in many graduation photos! Sandra spends time between her North Carolina and Orlando offices, and continues attending exhibits, conventions, and providing presentations to assure that practitioners worldwide receive state of the art training in Orofacial Myology and related subjects..
